A horrific stabbing at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Utama Damansara (4) claimed the life of a 16-year-old Form 4 female student this morning. The attacker, a 14-year-old male Form 2 classmate, was detained at the scene following the 9:10am assault. Petaling Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat reported the victim was found in a school toilet with multiple stab wounds and was pronounced dead on the spot despite emergency efforts.
Suspected Motive: Rejection of Feelings
New details emerging from the investigation reveal the suspect was enraged after the victim rejected his romantic feelings toward her. Sources close to the probe indicate the Form 2 boy had developed an infatuation with the older student, and her dismissal of his advances triggered the violent outburst. “The suspect confessed during initial questioning that he felt humiliated and acted out in a moment of rage,” a police source told reporters. This personal motive adds a layer of heartbreak to the already tragic event, highlighting the complexities of adolescent emotions in a school setting.
Police Response and Investigation
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said that the attack happened outside a classroom. The suspect was said to have a knife and was walking around the school grounds, scaring students and leaving blood behind. It was found that two sharp objects were the weapons used. The suspect is being looked into for murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. Because he is a minor, his name is not being released. Authorities have ruled out bullying as a reason for the act, saying it was an isolated incident with no previous problems between the students involved.

Eyewitness Accounts and School Lockdown
Students were scared and described the scenes of chaos as the bloodied suspect walked through the hallways, which made teachers lock down the classrooms. A Form 3 student said, “He walked past our class, covered in blood, and said he killed someone.” The school, which was close to IKEA and One Utama, was closed off, and counseling teams were sent in to help traumatized students and staff.
Community Reaction and Ongoing Concerns
The tragedy has sparked national discussions on youth mental health and school violence. Social media is filled with tributes to the victim, described as a bright and beloved student, alongside calls for stricter weapon checks in schools. Friends and family gathered outside the school, laying flowers and lighting candles in her memory.
