This fantasy romantic comedy revolves around the life of an environmentalist named Jimmy who spends his days collecting rubbish to ensure that the village is kept clean. Jimmy has a unique bond with nature, and thus animals are drawn to him. Jimmy also holds on to the belief of his mother’s mythical bedtime stories that duyungs (mermaids) will only appear in a clean enviroment. Jimmy & His Mermaid also reveals the love triangle between Jimmy, Aspalela (the daughter of the village headman) and Kordi a fisherman. The movie was shot in the scenic Sipadan Islands, one of Malaysia’s popular tourist destination.
